Our first event is from the 20 to the 22nd of July 2018 and is called Friends of Swatika. It is a non-commercial camp for SANPark’s Environmental Crimes Investigations (ECI) and is pretty unique in many ways.
We are hosting rugby players from the Lions Rugby Union to start off the Lions Rhino Ambassadors Project for the SANParks Rhino Management Plan.
We will experience all the facets of the Plan by joining ECI when they investigate a Rhino carcass, speaking to the Section and Field Rangers, that go out daily to track and arrest poachers and meeting with the Special Rangers and their Canine Colleagues.
We finish off the programme with a visit to Care for Wild, the official partner for SANParks to rehabilitate and save Rhino Orphans.
This centre is not open to the public, but dependent on fundraising and raising awareness of the plight of the orphans.
We are all very excited and cannot wait to see what we can achieve with this project.
